One of the visitor bedroom at Bowood House in Wiltshire has partitions coated in Colefax & Fowler’s ‘Bowood’ design – a sample named after this house with interiors by John Fowler. The same sample features on the bed valance, headboard, curtains and chair upholstery. In the principle bedroom of Robin Muir’s house, which was designed by Caroline Holdaway, the bedcover is ‘Fig’ from Raoul Textiles; the reverse is used for the cushions. Unpolished floorboards and white partitions give this room a pared-back look. The neatest thing about having a small or unusually formed room is the opportunity it presents to make use of your house imaginatively. The alcove behind the door, within the house of designer Patrick Williams of Berdoulat design, has been turned in to a captivating sleeping nook.
